Jessica Horner | Elementary Coordinator in Overland Park
My husband, Adam, and I began attending Christ Church in 2016. We knew very quickly when we walked in the doors that we wanted this to be our church home.
Originally from Florida, I grew up in Kentucky where I attended Western Kentucky University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. In 2006, I moved to Kansas City to pursue graduate music degrees at the UMKC Conservatory.
In true musician (and perhaps grad student) fashion, I met my husband working in restaurants!
I spent my early career teaching as a Kindermusik educator and later, in order to stay home with my kids, I opened Rosewood Music Studio – a flute and piano studio I owned and operated from 2013-2023.
I’m thrilled to join the Family Life team at Christ Church.
Throughout my life, I have been blessed with church communities that poured into me – giving me a voice as a young person and developing my leadership skills. I have always had a passion for teaching children, and when I became a parent, I developed a new desire to support parents as they navigate this new and (sometimes) challenging season of life. I am looking forward to the opportunity of connecting with families, supporting volunteers, and helping children develop a lifelong faith.
Adam and I have three elementary-aged children, so we are often hustling from one sport or school event to the next. As a family we enjoy playing card games, cooking, and watching movies. When I squeeze in a spare moment by myself, I can be found reading, gardening, working on DIY home projects, and listening to/playing music.
