Finding Hope in a Larger Story
Good morning! I was so thankful yesterday to be able to gather outdoors together to worship and celebrate Resurrection Sunday. After a long year it felt like a real gift from God to be given such beautiful weather as well. Praise God!
Throughout Holy Week, I was struck by the drama of the week. Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Resurrection Sunday – each of these are dramatically different from one another in mood and yet they hold together in a beautiful way. Although the story never changes, God meets us in it differently each year as we change. After a year wherein I’ve often felt confused, overwhelmed, and conflicted – like I was living in a fog – there is something very grounding about being put “back in the story” of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.
Last April, I wrote a reflection on the 12th anniversary of my sister’s death while also trying to process the early stages of the pandemic. It’s a meditation on finding hope in a story bigger than our own lives. If you’re interested in reflecting a bit on your own story this week, I invite you to read the piece HERE.
